Support Dr. Margaret Safo’s Commitment to Education

Raised in Ghana, West Africa, Dr. Margaret Safo’s journey is one that centered around education. Dr. Safo is one of 11 children and was among the few of her siblings who attended school. Born in the village of Banko in the Ashanti region, life was never easy but was often joyous in being surrounded by family and loved ones.

Dr. Safo’s educational journey allowed her to attend Ghana’s prestigious Wesley Girls secondary school on a scholarship, before she went on to university and medical school. Along the way, she had many mentors and sponsors who helped her achieve her dream of becoming a physician.

It is because of her belief in the transformative power of an education that Dr. Safo is committed to sponsoring youth to complete their scholastic dreams in Ghana, something she has done for years on an individual basis. The Dr. Margaret Safo Scholarship Fund will allow an expansion of these efforts to support more youth each year.

We hope you will consider contributing.

Service To the Community

Dr. Safo has been serving the local Far Rockway pediatric community for over 25 years. Through that time, she has taken care of thousands of children, having seen many of them blossom from infants to parents themselves. She has been a well-loved part of this neighborhood, both for her loving bedside manner and the way she treats her patients as they were her own children.

Dr. Safo is also an active member of her church, Bethel Presbyterian Reformed Church of New York, where she serves as a church elder. In that role, she has mentored and supported young in their spiritual and professional journeys.

Dr. Safo’s loving and nurturing spirit, both in her work and personal life, is why we are committed to creating this scholarship in her honor.

Support Education in Ghana

The Dr. Margaret Safo Scholarship Fund will provide funding through secondary school of one male and female student in Ghana each year. Recipients will be chosen by their community elders and scholarships will be awarded by the level of need.

We hope you will help support these efforts.
